Henry.
Died April 06, 1966.
Just a few lines to let you know the events of Henry Lavelle Westberry.
Henry had served a term at Fort Hood, Texas. He came home and
looked for a job for three months. Him being small of stature,
he was unable to get employment. He had been able to serve his
country but not able to even buy a beer without an I D. He re-enlisted
and was sent to Korea. There he was on guard duty on the 38th
Parallel. He and three others went up the mountain for duty and
hit a land mine. The accident killed him and two others and left
one soldier damaged for life. This info may be in the Stars and
Stripes.
I remember one time Henry came home on pass and went to a local
bar to get a beer. He only had pennies to pay for the beer. The
owner bought him his beer when he pulled out all the pennies.
Henry was working toward a law degree when he was killed. He had
gotten his GED.
I thought we had it in his remains but can not find it. I have
a few of his things.
The day before we were notified Henry had been killed we had just
returned from burying a grandparent. (George H. Westberry) I
still remember hearing mom screaming the morning they notified
us Henry had been killed. We had to wait for a week before his
body was shipped to Odessa. That almost drove my mom and dad nuts.
I think it is why my mom died of a broken heart.
I still get emotional when I do military funerals. I cry at the
sound of the salute.

ODESSA -- Services for Lola Mae Westberry, 74, of Odessa
will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Dunn Street Baptist Church
with the Revs. Mark Lewis and Gale Reeves officiating.
Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland.
Mrs. Westberry died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at Medical
Center Hospital. She was born June 20, 1924, in Anson.
She married Ted R. Blair Dec. 11, 1939. He died Nov.
23, 1978. She married Henry J. Westberry April 12, 1980. He died
July 15, 1992. Mrs. Westberry moved to Odessa in 1980 from
Midland. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Cheyenne
Renee Aycock. Survivors include daughters, Lydia Cobb and Shirley
Mae Brown, both of Odessa; sons, Jarry Lee Blair of Odessa
and Donald Richard Blair of Waxahachie; brothers, Alfred Ray
Hambrick of London, Ark., and Rodney Keith Hambrick of Chandler,
Ariz; sisters, Leola Elizabeth Crosson of Gustine, Dorthea Elaine
Walters of Comanche, Mary Bernice Liverman of Casa Grande,
Ariz., and Virginia Sue Dalton of London, Ark; 15 grandchildren
and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
J.D. Westberry, 85, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Rix Funeral Directors Chapel
with the Rev. Jerry David Westberry officiating. Burial will be
in West Park Cemetery.
Mr. Westberry was born Nov. 15, 1916, in Tyler. He was a retired
truck driver.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Davis of Brownsboro; two sons,
Morris Westberry of Hereford and Roger Westberry of Tyler; and
five grandchildren.

Charles "Chuck" Edward Westberry, 49, of Baytown went
to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 5, 2004. He was born October
15, 1954 in Highlands, to T. L. and Helen Westberry.
Chuck enjoyed fishing, being around the water, working with and
riding horses. He was the first wheel chair bound person to show
his Arabian horse, Z-Babys Pride in the Houston Live Stock Show
and Rodeo. He was a person who enjoyed life and was very conversational.
He was a strong advocate for disabled people, and was well known
in the Houston area for his determination to help people with
disabilities. Chuck's biggest joy came from spending time with
his family and especially his two boys, with their interests in
little league sports and inline skating.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife Teresa Westberry of Baytown,
two sons; Christofer and Logan Westberry both of Highlands, Parents
T. L. and Helen Westberry of Huffman, three brothers; James Westberry
and wife Connie of Sargent, Joe Westberry and wife Kathy of Lowell,
MA, John David Westberry and wife Antonia of Huffman, one sister;
Linda Barnet and husband Jerry of Huffman, many nieces, nephews
other relative and friends.
Memorial Celebration of Life will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 8,
2004 at Sterling White Chapel in Highlands with Rev. Tim Edwards
officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later
date.

Thesdon L. Westberry, "T.L. / BIG RED", 83, of Huffman,
went to be with the Lord on September 28, 2004.
Funeral services will be on Friday, October 1, 2004 at 2:00, Sterling
White Chapel in Highlands with Reverend Jonathan Fitzgerald officiating.
Visitation will be at Sterling White Chapel on Thursday, September
30, 2004 from 5:00-9:00p.m. Interment will follow at White Cemetery.
Thesdon was born December 15, 1920 in Edom, Texas to John J. Westberry
and Irene Johns. He lived in the Huffman area since 1953 where
he worked as a Millwright for Champion Paper Mill until his retirement.
Thesdon was preceded in death by his parents, sisters and a son,
Charles E. Westberry. He is survived by his loving wife Helen
Westberry of Huffman; daughter Linda Kay Barnet and husband Jerry
of Huffman; son, James T. Westberry and wife Connie of Sargent;
son Joe Clayton Westberry and wife Kathy of Lowell, Mass. and
son John David Westberry and wife Antonia of Huffman. He is also
survived by 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and many
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
