Gertie Lucille Westberry
LAKE CITY -- Gertie Lucille Westberry of Branford died Wednesday
night at Shands at Lake Shore after a long illness. She was 73.
Mrs. Westberry was a seamstress for the Jayco Co. in Live Oak
and Branford and also worked many years for Sunstate Manufacturing
in Lake City, retiring in 1987.
Born in Hamilton County, Mrs. Westberry moved 28 years ago from
Largo to Branford.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Westberry.
Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Hopkins of Branford; a son,
Frankie Croft of Lake City; a brother, Claude Rodgers of Branford;
three grandsons and three great-grandchildren.
Lee Thurman Westberry, 97, of Lake Park, Georgia, died Monday,
August 23, 1999, at the Holly Hill Nursing Facility after a short
illness, where he had resided for the past eight years.
He was born on June 24, 1902, in Hamilton County, Florida to the
late Moses and Elizabeth Newsome Westberry. He was a retired farmer
and a member of the Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearlie L. Westberry of
Palatka.
Survivors include three daughters, Kathleen Nash of Lake Park,
Georgia, Beck and Della Whitaker, both of Palatka; four sons,
Lonnie Westberry, Russell Westberry, Roscoe Westberry, all of
Palatka and Quincy Westberry of Clewiston, Florida; 33 grandchildren;
and 61-plus great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, 2 p.m. in the chapel of McLane
Lakewood Funeral Home with Rev. Leonard Harnage officiating. Burial
followed in the Carter Cemetery in Echols County.
The family received friends on Friday, 7-9 p.m. at the Lakewood
Funeral Home.

family.
ODUM -- Owen Leonard Westberry, 74, died Oct. 3, 1999 at home.
He was a native of Dade County, Fla., and lived in Appling County
the past 10 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in
Oxnard, Calif., and a retired Navy veteran of World War II and
the Vietnam War.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Evelyn A. Westberry of Odum; two daughters,
Judith Rhodes of Long Beach, Calif., and Elaine Shepherd of Fontana,
Calif; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Randy and Keith Westberry,
both of California, and James Owen and Renee Westberry of O'Fallon,
Ill.; a sister, Lucille Westberry of Valdosta; two brothers, James
and Ray Westberry, both of Valdosta; seven grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.

Estelle Register - 79, daughter of C.E. and Mary Westberry
Zipperer, passed away on October 8, 1999 in Valdosta, Ga. She
was preceeded in death by her husband, Arzell Register, Sr. She
had lived in the Valdosta area all of her life and was a member
of the Stockton Baptist Church.
Estelle Register is survived by six daughters - Shirley Herring
and Bebbe Copeland, both of Lake Park, Ga., Carolyn Porter of
Bryceville, FL, Faye Keyton of Palatka, FL, Vicki Graham of Moultrie,
GA, and Mary Wright of Perry, FL; three sons - Arzell Register,
Jr. of Waycross, GA, James Register and Stanley Register, both
of Naylor, GA; seventeen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren;
one sister - Oveta Harris of Lake Park, GA.
Estell Register was laid to rest in Wayfare Primitive Baptist
Church Cemetery.
HOMERVILLE -- Mrs. Lois Westberry Rewis, 78, of Homerville passed
away on Monday, March 5, 2001, in the Clinch Memorial Hospital
following declining health for several years. A native of Echols
County, she moved to Homerville in 1965. She was a retired secretary
for the Echols County Board of Education. She was a member of
the First Baptist Church, Homerville. She was the daughter of
the late Riley M. Westberry and Pearl Bohanon Westberry. She was
the widow of Shellie Oscar Rewis. Survivors are two step-sons
and their wives, Roy and Tommie Rewis, Florence, Miss. and S.O.
and Barbara Rewis Jr., Shreveport, La.; one brother and sister-in-law,
Clinton and Louise Westberry, Sanderson, Fla.; five nieces and
their husbands, Patricia and Wendell Vinzant, Sanderson, Fla.,
Fredia and Lee Harris, Keystone Heights, Fla., Elaine and Tom
Britt, Phoenix, Ariz., Shirley Behrans, and Serena Kaups, River
Ridge, La.; three grandchildren and their spouses, Sharon and
David Fox, Sarasota, Fla., Greg Rewis, Phoenix, Ariz., and Amy
and Russ Granberry, Florence, Miss.; two nephews and several other
relatives. Graveside services for Mrs. Rewis will be held at 11
a.m. Thursday in the Wayfare Cemetery in Echols County with the

BARNEY -- Mikell (Mike) Dale Touchton, 53, of Barney, died
Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at his residence after a lengthy illness.
Born in Lowndes County, he had lived most of his life in Brooks
County and was the son of Leon Carroll and Eunice Westberry Touchton.
He was a copier technician for Colson Printing Co., a member of
Morrison Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving
in Vietnam. He is survived by his wife, Annie (Ann) Childers Touchton
of Barney; two daughters, Sheri Touchton of Clinton, S.C., Shannon
Touchton of Savannah; three stepchildren, Stacy Piland of Valdosta,
Sherri (Chris) Newton and Steve (Mary) Jones, all of Portal, Ga.;
and his pets Bessie and Dolly; eight grandchildren; two brothers,
Leonard (Mary) Touchton of Kelso, Tenn., and Steve (Carol) Touchton
of Valdosta. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday
in the Morrison Baptist Church with the Rev. Carlton Owens and

Bill Culpepper, 76, of Hahira died Friday, June 1, 2001 at his
residence. He was born on September 3, 1924 in Echols County to
the late Arthur Lee and Goldie Westberry Culpepper. Mr. Culpepper
was a farmer. He is survived by his wife, Eloise Culpepper of
Hahira; one son, Arthur Wilbur Culpepper, Jr. of Hahira; two grandchildren,
James Culpepper and April Michelle Culpepper; one sister, Mable
Crews of Glen St. Marie, Fla. Mr. Culpepper will be cremated and
graveside memorial services will be held in Carter Cemetery in

J. C. Westberry, 89, of Live Oak passed away Monday, December
24, 2001 after a long illness. The Valdosta native moved to Live
Oak 56 years ago, retired from Ratliff Motor Company in Live Oak,
where he worked for 40 years. He was in the National Guard Service
and was a member of Live Oak Church of God and served as elder,
clerk and Sunday School superintendent.
ECHOLS COUNTY -- Ava Nell Westberry Strickland, 66, a lifetime
resident of Echols County, died at South Georgia Medical Center
on Monday, March 11, 2002, after a short illness. She was born
on July 4, 1935, the daughter of the late Wallace and Mandy Corbett
Westberry. Mrs. Strickland was a member of Bethel Church of God
where she was a Sunday School secretary for many years. She was
retired from Citizens and Southern National Bank, was a member
of The Christian Womans Club and she faithfully ministered to
the residents of local nursing homes. Survivors are her sister
and brother-in-law, Virginia and O.C. Prince of Lake Park; nieces
and nephews, Owen and B.J. Prince, Lisa Prince, Tawanna Prince,
all of Lake Park, Browning and Julie Strickland of Statenville,
Erin and James Doherty of Dallas; great-niece and nephew, Ben
Prince of Lake Park and Heather Strickland of Statenville; brother-in-law,
and sister-in-law, Gary and Charlotte Strickland of Statenville.
Mrs. Strickland was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Strickland,
and her children, Melinda Strickland and Ben Strickland. Funeral
services will be held at 3:30 p.m. today in the chapel of the
Carson McLane Funeral Home. The Rev. Joe Tatum and the Rev. Wayne
Hughes will officiate. Burial will follow in Carter Cemetery.

Carol Parnell Cline, 40, of Live Oak, passed away Tuesday,
June 18, 2002 in her home after a long illness. The Lake City,
Fla. native lived in Live Oak all her life, was a Suwannee County
deputy clerk in Live Oak for nine years and was a member of Antioch
Baptist Church in Live Oak.
Survivors include: her husband, Lesley Cline of Live Oak; her
parents, Francis and Bessie Parnell of Live Oak; one daughter,
Stephanie Cline of Live Oak; two sons, Mitchell and Brian Cline,
both of Live Oak; one brother, James Parnell of Live Oak; maternal
grandmother, Alma Westberry of Live Oak; and paternal grandmother,
Thelma M. Parnell of Live Oak.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2002
at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. David McKeithen and the
Rev. Fred Watson officiating. Interment will follow in the church
cemetery.

Mrs. Mellany Renee Mancil Vickers, 38, of Douglas, Ga., passed
away Saturday night, February 8, 2003, at Coffee Regional Medical
Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Vickers, a native of Douglas and Coffee County, Ga., was
the daughter of Jimmy Lee and Johnnie Faye Spivey Mancil. She
was employed by the Coffee County Board of Education as a pre-kindergarten
teacher at Ambrose Elementary School and was a member of Bushnell
Chapel Church.
Survivors include: her husband, Christopher Grady Vickers of Douglas,
Ga.; one son, J. Frank Westberry II of Douglas, Ga.; one daughter,
Savannah Bryanna Westberry of Douglas, Ga.; one step-son, Caleb
Gatlin Vickers of Douglas, Ga.; her parents, Jimmy Lee and Johnnie
Faye Spivey Mancil of Douglas, Ga.; one brother, Jimmy Lee Mancil,
Jr., and wife, Lisa, of Douglas, Ga.; one niece, Hope Mancil of
Douglas, Ga.; one nephew, Michael Mancil of Douglas, Ga.; several
other relatives and friends. Mrs. Vickers was preceded in death
by her maternal grandparents, the late Geneva and Buddy Spivey,
and and her paternal grandparents, the late Ernest and Alzada
Mancil and the late Naomi Whitman.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 11, 2003, at 4 p.m.,
at Bushnell Chapel Church, with Rev. Roy Davis, Jr., Rev. Marshall
Adcock, and Rev. Toby Gale officiating. Special musical selections
were as follows: "A Prayer for Renee" was presented
by soloist Candi Smith; "Still Blessed," "It's
True," and "I Have Somebody with Me" were rendered
by Leon "Mann" and Janie Ruth Kirkland and Gina Williams,
with Lisa Davis accompanying at the piano and Shawn Spivey accompanying
at the guitar. Interment followed in the Salem Cemetery with three
white doves being released at the conclusion.

Michael Mancil.

MOULTRIE -- Betty Jane Dampier Westberry, 70, of Moultrie, died
Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at her residence.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Wesley
Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dewey Stalvey officiating.
Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be

Born April 5, 1932, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Westberry was the
daughter of the late John Irwin and Renna Harnage Dampier. She
was a homemaker and was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist
Church.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, John M., Don, Berry,
Jack, Phillip and Billy Dampier, and a sister, Nerene Dampier
Croft.
Survivors include her husband, J. Frank Westberry of Moultrie;
three sons, Stephen Westberry and wife Linda of Moultrie, Stuart
Westberry and wife Teresa of Folkston, and Stacy Westberry and
wife Lisa of Moultrie; a daughter, Patricia Nestor of Tallahassee,
Fla.; a brother, Leland Dampier Sr. and wife Frances of Moultrie;
sisters, Maude Herndon, Eunice Yearty and Jean Long all of Moultrie;
and nine grandchildren, Joe Nestor, Danny Nestor, Jamie Westberry,

JASPER, Fla. -- Walter Ellis Fouraker, 72, of Jasper, Fla.
passed away Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at South Georgia Medical Center
in Valdosta following a brief illness. The Hamilton County native
and lifelong resident was retired from Occidental Chemical Co.
where he worked for 29 years operating heavy equipment. Walter
enjoyed fishing and was well known for his gardening talents.
Mr. Fouraker was preceded in death by a daughter, Audrey Fouraker
Padgett.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Lou Jean Fouraker; one
daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bryan McLeod, all of Jasper,
Fla.; two brothers, Rodney Fouraker, Jasper, Fla. and Richard
Fouraker, Genoa, Fla.; five sisters, Frances Baker, Grand Ridge,
Fla., Lucille Brown, Dorothy Westberry, Marjorie Westberry, all

Eula Mae Westberry, 86, of Lake Park died on Friday, January
16, 2004, at Lake Haven Nursing Home after a long illness. Born
in Lowndes County on January 31, 1917, she was the daughter of
the late Samuel and Joanna Bass Frier. Mrs. Westberry was retired
from the Lowndes County Board of Education. She was a member of
Lake Park Church of God and was the last surviving charter member
of the church.
Survivors are her daughters and sons-in-law, Rubinell and J.C.
McDonald of Lake Park; son and daughter-in-law, Alvin and Rhonda
Westberry of Lake Park; three granddaughters and their spouses,
Sharon and Chad Harrell, Brenda and Paul Mulkey of Lake Park,
Renee and Thomas Peacock of Quitman; four great grandchildren,
Hannah and Dylan Harrell of Lake Park, Taylor and Ashton Peacock
of Quitman; several nieces and nephews.

state the church for one hour prior to service time on Monday.

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. -- Nancy Bennett Westberry Curls died
Feb. 1, 2004, at the Gulf Coast Medical Center in Panama City,
Fla.
She was born Oct. 27, 1919, to the late W. (Toby) Bennett and
Harriet Griffis Bennett in Statenville.
A devoted wife, mother, homemaker, grandmother and great-grandmother,
she had a wonderful sense of humor and was a friend to all who
knew her. She loved gardening and fishing. She was the widow of
the late Glen Westberry of Statenville and the late C.C. Curls
of Alachua, Fla. Her home was in Alachua, Fla., before moving
to Panama City Beach, Fla., in 2000.
She is survived by two sons, Bob Westberry and wife Beverly of
Panama City Beach, Fla., and Billy Westberry and wife Pauline
of Lakeland, Fla.; six grandchildren, Bobby Glen and wife Connie
Westberry, Chattanooga, Tenn., Brenda Westberry, Bettina Hare

PALATKA - Stephen Ryan Heisler, 27, a self-employed satellite
dish installer, died Friday, March 26, 2004, at home.
He was a lifelong resident of Palatka. Mr. Heisler was a member
of Grace Community Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother, Linda Harris, Palatka; father and
stepmother, Danny and Karen Heisler, Palatka; brother, Christopher
Heisler, Palatka; and grandparents, Lonnie and Christine Westberry,

Conchetta M. Upshaw, 43, died July 18, 2004 in Bradenton. Conchetta
was born in Bradenton on October 16, 1960, and graduated from
Bayshore High School. She grew up on Anna Maria Island. She earned
a Cosmetology license and owned/operated Sassy C's Hair Designs
in Myakka City. She was a member of the Arcadia Rodeo Shoot-Out
Team, with her loving husband Jerry Upshaw. She was preceded in
death by her father Alvin Westberry and her daughter Amanda Early.
Survivors include her mother Connie Westberry, daughter Shawn
Noland, step-daughter Melissa Davis, Step-son Jeremy Upshaw, grandchildren;
Kristen Bowers, Kevin Noland, Nicholas Davis, and Jeremy Upshaw,

Leroy Westberry, 82, of Vero Beach, died Sept. 14, 2004, at
Indian River Memorial Hospital, Vero Beach, after a brief illness.
He was born Sept. 19, 1921, in Moultrie, Ga., and moved to Vero
Beach 25 years ago from South Miami.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had been the
manager of the Independent Life and Accident Insurance Co. in
Miami. He was one of the founders of the Vero Highlands Neighborhood
Watch.
Survivors are his wife of 52 years, Phyllis; sons, Mark Westberry,
of Vero Beach, and Richard Westberry, of Coral Springs; daughter,
Bonnie Levine, of Coconut Creek; brother, Bruce Westberry, of
Charlotte, N.C.; half-sisters, Betty Ann Sass, of Panama City,
Nancy Vickers, of Destin, and Leila Bowling, of Plano, Texas;

WESTBERRY, ROBERT NEIL, 56, Victoriously went to be with the
Lord on Oct. 12, 2004 after 13 years of battling cancers. Born
Mar. 10, 1948 in Miami Beach, Bob worked 33 years for FPL. Survived
by his beloved wife Nancy, cherished children Karyn (Michael)
Gorden, Jennifer (Matthew) Spangler, Lee (Kelly) Westberry, and
4 precious grandchildren. Beloved by his parents Woodrow W. and
Adeline Westberry, brother Dave (Shelia) Westberry and 2 nephews
and niece. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Wellness
Community, 8609 S. Dixie Hwy. Miami, FL 33143. Visitation will
be held on Sunday 10/17/2004 at 2 P.M. following by service at

Ivey S. Culpepper, 86, of Valdosta, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004,
at his home. Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday,
Nov. 3, 2004, at the Forrest Street Church of God with burial
to follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends
