Mrs. Westbury of Quitman dead. After a lingering illness of a
few weeks, Mrs. Westbury died at the home of her daughter, Mrs.
Lovett, in this city, Wednesday morning at eleven o'clock.
She was buried Tuesday morning at ten o'clock, Judge Bennett preaching
the funeral sermon.
SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. February 13, 1927
Adoniram Judson Westbury, 95 years of age, a confederate veteran
of the United States civil war died at the home of his son, Herbert,
at Beverley, eight miles west of Swift Current Thursday night
and was buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Swift Current, Saturday
afternoon.
Deceased was born in Georgia and joined the Southern forces when
the civil war broke out.
He came to Canada eleven years ago and has made his home with
his son since.
He leaves two sons - Herbert at Beverley, William at Morris, Minnesota,
and one daughter, Mrs. M. E. Nugent in Portland, Oregon.
Obituary of Herbert Westbury. Died April 28, 1948
Herbert Westbury, a well known farmer of the Beverly district,
passed away on Tuesday afternoon at the Swift Current Hospital.
Mr. Westbury has lived in Beverly for a number of years and has
recently moved to Swift Current. The service was conducted by
Rev. J. C. Schissler at Warren's Funeral Home. Mr. Westbury is
survived by his wife and three sons, Bob, Roy and Cliff.
Burial: Mount Pleasent Burial Park, Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

Mrs. Nettie Westberry Succumbs in Hospital.
Jasper, July 17 - Mrs. Nettie Westberry, 90, lifelong resident
of Echols County, Ga., died in an Atlanta hospital Friday night.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Henie Amerson, Mayday, Ga.;
and three sons, Gilford Westberry, Mayday; Dewey Westberry, Lake
Park, Ga.; and Turner Westberry, Jasper; and several grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock
at the Wayfare Church, Echols County, with Elder M. M. Fiveash
officiating. Internment will be in the Wayfare Cemetery with the
Harry T. Reid Funeral Home of Jasper in charge.

Robert Westbury, 49, formerly of the Beverly district, died
at Portland, Oregon, May 5, 1960.
Mr. Westbury was born in Jackson Minnesota, in 1911. He came to
Canada with his parents in 1916 and returned to live in the United
States in 1937.
Mr. Westbury is predeceased by his father in1948, one brother
Ernest, and two sisters, Helen and Hazel in 1910.
He is survived by his wife Grace, Roberta, Rodney, Jo Ann and
Donna Hankins, his mother, Mrs. Lena Westbury, Glamis, and four
brothers, Howard, Swift Current, William, Portland, Oregon; Roy
and Cliff of Glamis.
Services were held May 9, at St. John's Funeral Home with the
Rev. J. Arthur Stevenson officiating. Burial was in Bethany Presbyterian
Cemetery.

WESTBERRY - Funeral services for Moses A. Westberry, 84, will
be held at 4 p.m. Friday in Kings Road Baptist Church with Rev.
C. L. Roberson, pastor, officiating. The body will rest in the
church from 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in Dinsmore Cemetery, under
the direction of Estes-Krauss Funeral Home. Mr. Westberry, who
lived at Dinsmore, died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was
born in Georgia and had lived in Jacksonville 38 years. He was
a member of the Kings Road Baptist Church. Survivors include a
brother, Gilford Westberry, Valdosta, Ga., and a number of nieces
and nephews, including Mrs. J. D. Carpenter, Mrs. E. A. Little,
Mrs. Aline Thomas, L. D. Moore and J. H. Moore, all of this city.
Mrs. Helena Westbury, Swift Current, Sask., passed away at
Swift Current Union Hospital, May 8, 1965, at the age of 86 years.
Funeral services were held from the Chapel of Warren's funeral
Home, Tuesday, May 11, at 2 p.m. with Mr. Jack Ross officiating.
Warren's Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers
were William Marsh, Jack Renoff, Joe Swansey, Collin Campbell,
Arthur Williams and Edward Thick. Interment was in Mount Pleasent
Burial Park, Swift Current, Sask.
She is survived by four sons, Howard, city, William, Portland,
Oregon, Roy, Zealandia, Sask., and Clifford, Shellbrook, Sask.,
17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two sisters and two
brothers. She was predeceased by her husband Herbert, in 1948,
two daughters in infancy, two sons, Robert in 1960 and Ernest
in boyhood, and two sisters.
Mrs. Westbury was born at Centreville, South Dakota, U.S.A., November
20, 1878, immigrating to Canada in 1916, to settle in the Beverly
district. She came to Swift Current from Beverly in 1947. She
was a former member of the Beverly Homemakers Association.
Howard Judson Westbury, age 69, passed away after a short illness
at the Swift Current Union Hospital on April 13, 1968. He resided
at 144 Central Ave. S. in the city. Funeral services were held
on Monday April 15, 1968 from the Chapel of Warren's Funeral Home
with Rev. James Murdock conducting the service.
Pallbearers were Emil Doucette, M. C. Smith, William Allan, Norman
Allan, Collin Campbell, and William Ford. Interment followed at
Mount Pleasant Burial Park, Swift Current.
Mr. Westbury is survived by his wife, Agnes, four sons, Allan,
Bud and Arthur of Calgary and Bill of Edmonton. Ten grandchildren
and two brothers. He was predeceased by his parents, two sisters
and three brothers.
Mr. Westbury was born at Worthing, South Dakota on August 12,
1898, and came to Canada in 1916 to settle at Beverly. In 1927
he moved to the Neville district to farm. He served overseas with
the Canadian Army from 1940 to1945 in the Canadian Army Service
Corps. He has been a Member of the Swift Current Branch of the
Royal Canadian Legion.
The passing of Mr. William Leith of Rosetown, Sask., occurred
in the University Hospital on July 12, 1972 at the age of 85 years.
Mr. Leith was born at Scotia, Manitoba on October 27, 1886. He
came to the Glamis district in 1905 where he homesteaded and has
farmed until his passing. He was a Charter and Life Member of
the Sovereign Masonic Lodge and was a member of the Wa Wa Temple
in Regina.
He is survived by his wife Peggy; one son Donald of Rosetown;
three grandsons William and Michael of Rosetown and Patrick of
Saskatoon; one great grandson George of Rosetown; one sister Mrs.
Elizabeth George of Regina; three nephews George Leith of Wiseton,
Stuart Smith of Brandon and Baron George of Boston; four nieces
Margaret Dillabough Of Kelowna, Betty Bacon of Vancouver, Beryl
McEachern of Regina, and Ruby Godlein of Hamiota, Man.
Funeral services were held from the Rosetown United Church on
Sunday, July 16, 1972 at 2:00pm with Rev. J.H. Young and Rev.
S. McTavish officiating. Ushers were Mr. Bob Paton and Mr. Jack
Smith. The floral tributes were attended to by Mr. Frank Wickett.
Honorary pallbearers were Mr. Jack Pateman, Mr. Jack Lawson, Mr.
Bert Hay, Mr. Ray Hough, Mr. Scott Rose, Mr. Ted Sparks, Mr. Jim
Lynch, Mr. Avery McConnell. Members of the Masonic Lodge formed
a guard of honor outside the church and at the cemetery.
Interment followed in the Rosetown Roselawn Cemetery with the
following acting as pallbearers: Mr. Les Whyte, Mr. Ken Orth,
Mr. Art Martin, Mr. Lindsay Nisbet, Mr. Mervin Walker, and Mr.
Clive Hough.
Clements, Rosetown Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Cliff Westbury, 55, formerly of Beverley and Swift Current,
residing in Penticton, B.C. died July 1, 1974 at Penticton, B.C.
Services were held July 4, 1974. Interment was in British Columbia.
Mr. Westbury is survived by his wife, Laura, of Penticton, B.C.,
two daughters, Gail [Mrs. Howard Brunton] of Canwood, Sask. and
Miss Janice Westbury of Kamloops, B.C., and son, Glen Westbury
of Prince Albert, Sask., and one grand-daughter and a brother,
Roy.
Mr. Westbury married the former Laura Dyer on December 3, 1947.
Mr Westbury resided at Success, Glamis and Shellbrook, Sask.,
before moving to B.C. in 1970.
Mrs. Agnes Struthers Westbury, age 83 years of Valley View
Lodge, Calgary & formerly of Swift Current, Sask., passed
away Monday, December 31, 1984 at Calgary General Hospital, Calgary,
Alta. Funeral services were held 2:00pm Friday, January 4, 1985
from St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Swift Current with Rev.
Glenn Noble officiating. Interment was held at Mount Pleasent
Burial Park Cemetery. Warren's Funeral Home were in charge of
the arrangements.
Pallbearers were Mr. Gordon Hartley, Mr. Jim Cross, Mr. Gordon
Oman. Mr. Henry Dyck, Mr. Norman Hiebert, Mr. John Westbury. Organist
was Mrs. Gertrude Beck.
The deceased is survived by 3 sons: Allan Westbury, Calgary, Alta.,
Earl [Bud] Westbury, Calgary, Alta., Art Westbury, Calgary, Alta.,
her step-mother: Mrs. Alice Jamieson, Lindsay, Ont., 10 grandchildren,
and 14 great-grandchildren, a half brother: Jim Jamieson, Lindsay,
Ont., a half sister: Annie Cole, Lindsay, Ont. Predeceased by
her husband : Howard Judson Westbury in 1968, a son: William Westbury
in 1969, 4 sisters, one brother and one half brother.
The deceased was born at Odanah, Manitoba, January 1, 1901. She
came west with her parents in1906 to a homestead in the Neville,
Sask. area. She was united in marriage to her late husband , Howard
J. Westbury, July 14, 1923 and the couple resided on a farm in
the Beverly area. Then moved to a farm in the Neville district
in 1928 where they farmed until moving to this city in 1944. The
late Mrs. Westbury was an active member of the St, Andrew's Church
and the Ladies Groups of the church over the years. In her memory:

Mrs. Lillian Corbitt, 76, widow of the Rev. Edward Pierce Corbitt
Sr., died Sunday morning at Memorial Hospital following an extended
illness.
She was a member of Pineview Baptist Church in Waresboro and was
the daughter of Jeff Whittington and Lillie Westberry Whittington.
She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Sweat, Waycross; a son,
Pierce Corbitt, Jacksonville, Fla.; three sisters, Ethel Henderson,
Fonella Mercier and Onice Johnson, all of Jacksonville, Fla.;
a half-brother, Horace Whittington, Homerville; five half-sisters,
two grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and many other relatives.
Funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Miles-Odum Funeral
Home chapel. Burial will be in Camp Branch Primitive Baptist Church
Cemetery near Manor.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from
7-9 p.m.

Mrs. Laura G. Westbury passed away October 22, 1986 in Penticton,
B.C. after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held October
24 in the Penticton Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Heath officiating.
Interment followed in Lakeview Cemetery.
Pallbearers were nephews Orville Dyer, Penticton, Roger Dyer,
Vancouver, John Dyer, Calgary, Jim Tooke, Brooks, and Howard Brunton,
Shellbrook, son-in-law and Luke Meixner, Kamloops, son-in-law.
The deceased is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Howard Brunton
[Gail] Shellbrook, Sask., Mrs. Luke Meixner [Janice] Kamloops,
B.C., one son Glen Westbury [Lyn] Innisfail, Alta., five grandchildren,
Stacey, Stephen and Carma Brunton, Candice and Krista Westbury,
four brothers , John Dyer [May] Penticton, Stan Dyer [Betty] Calgary,
Alan Dyer [Tillie] Calgary, Chester Dyer [Nan] Moose Jaw and two
sisters, Hazel Tooke, Brooks, Dorthy Hendry [Albert] Swift Current,
also many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her husband, Cliff Westbury, in 1974, her mother,
Laura Dyer, May 26, 1981, her father, Joseph Dyer, Jan. 27, 1980.
The late Laura Westbury was born June 28, 1922 at Kelso, Sask.
attending school there, also Chaplin and normal in Regina. Later
she taught at New Hastings, Glenside, Burnham and Swinton. United
in marriage to Cliff Westbury Dec. 2, 1947 living at Swift Current,
Success, Glamis and Shellbrook moving to Penticton in 1970 due
to her husband's ill health. Laura worked in a variety store in
Penticton until a year ago when ill health forced her to retire.
She loved golfing, bridge and her home and family above all. She
will be deeply mourned by her family and sadly missed by her many
friends. Donations to the cancer fund will be greatly appreciated
by the family.
Westbury, the death of Mr. Roy Westbury of Wiseton, Saskatchewan,
occurred at University Hospital, Saskatoon, on August 7, 1988,
at the age of 74 years. Mr. Westbury was born at Jackson, Minnesota,
on May 19, 1914. At a very young age, he moved with his parents
to Beverly, Saskatchewan, and it was here that he received his
education. In 1932, he then came to the Glamis district where
he was employed with Bill Leith, returning in 1938 and remaining
until joining the Royal Canadian Army in 1942. After his discharge,
he married Lila Currie of Glamis in November of 1945. In 1949
they moved to the Padgate district, where they farmed for twelve
years. In 1961, they moved to Zealandia, where he worked and farmed
until 1973, when they moved to make their home in Wiseton. Mr.
Westbury was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Rosetown Branch,
Buckhorn Wildlife Association in Dinsmore. He enjoyed fishing,
working with his "CB" radio, playing cards and being
with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Lila,
two daughters: Linda (Ken) Bahr of Milden and Elaine (Henry) Dyck
of McMahon; three sons; Ernest (Connie) of Hosmer, B.C., Richard
(Terry) of Wiseton, and John of Edmonton, and 10 grandchildren
and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents,
five brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were held from
the Wiseton United Church on Wednesday, August 10, 1988, at 11:00
a.m. with Rev. Bill Chapman officiating. Organist for the service
was Mrs. Irene McConnell. A duet was sung by Cheryl Pearce and
Diane Fullerton. Ushers in the church were Jack Uhrich, Jim MacDonald,
Jim Hallahan and Glen Hallahan. Honorary Pallbearers were Art
Martin, Ed Turner, Charlie Ritchie, Jack Clark, Len Yip, Jack
Cunningham, Ross Bricker, Don Leith, Lindsay Nesbit, and Ken Orth.
Members of the Royal Canadian Legion formed a Guard of Honor outside
the church. Interment followed in the Holt Cemetery with the following
acting as pallbearers: Earl Turner, Bob Martin, Glen Westbury,
Wayne Westbury, and Jim Currie. Clements Rosetown Funeral Home
was in charge of the arrangements.
Burial: August 10, 1988, Holt Cemetery, Wiseton, Sask.

Johnson Persons, 60, of Hammond Road, died April 6, 2004 at Frankfort
Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 29, 1943, in Jasper, Fla., she was the daughter of the
late Robert E. Lee Johnson and Birdie Westberry Johnson.
She was a homemaker and attended Central Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Richard Neil Persons
of Lawrenceburg; three sons, Rick Persons and his wife, Jennifer,
of Taylorsville, Randall Persons and his wife, April, of Sellersburg,
Ind., and Russell Persons and his wife, Rebecca, of Frankfort;
seven grandchildren, Amanda Persons and Amy Persons, both of Pennsylvania,
Alex Campbell and Aaron Persons, both of Taylorsville, Adam Persons
of Sellersburg, and Amber Persons and Aubrey Persons, both of
Frankfort; two brothers, Warren Johnson, and Charlie Johnson and
his wife, Angie, all of Georgia; two sisters, Jewell Rowe, and
Ann Prevatt and her husband, Wayne, all of Georgia; and her mother-in-law,
Marcia Howard of Lawrenceburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother,
Paul Johnson; and a sister, Grace Johnson.
Funeral services were held April 9 at Ritchie & Peach Funeral
Home with Bro. Rick Clark officiating.
Burial followed in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
